The College of the North Atlantic’s long-standing association with the campus in Qatar has been a success story, but CNA’s presence in the Persian Gulf nation is soon coming to an end.
CNA and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar have been involved in a long-standing service agreement since 2001.
The current three-year agreement comes to an end in August of 2022.
CNA says it was always the intent to make the Qatar campus fully autonomous, and movement toward autonomy has been ongoing.
CNA’s Qatar campus has grown from 50 employees and 300 students in 11 programs, to more than 5,000 full-time students enrolled in over 30 internationally-accredited diploma and certificate programs.
CNA-Q is now awaiting the Emir’s decree regarding its future status.
CNA says contractual employees at the Qatar campus are from all around the world, and it is hoped that many will be offered future contractual positions.
Options have been presented to employees from this province, and while some chose to remain, others have left to seek employment elsewhere.
Only 19 employees from this province, three of whom hold permanent positions, will remain to the end of the contract in August of 2022.
