The Trans-Canada Highway will reopen to one lane later today near Port aux Basques.
Repairs to the TCH near the weigh scale outside the town have been continuing overnight to let traffic safely through the construction site this afternoon.
Even with the lane opening, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Elvis Loveless, is urging patience.
He says its not going to be a paved road with a normal flow, but traffic will slowly be moving through the area. He says he talked to people in the industry about needing to transport goods, which they are allowing today.
Construction continues in the area and at other sections of the highway on the southwest coast.
Repairs are also continuing on highways in the Codroy Valley and drivers are encouraged to use back roads until repairs are completed.
