Newfoundland and Labrador has the priciest gasoline in the country, even more so than the Northwest Territories.
The price dropped by a maximum of five cents per litre today but that still leaves the average price in metro at about $1.56 per litre, two cents more than people in the Territories pay.
Going by the numbers from other jurisdictions, gas price watcher Dan McTeague thought the decrease in this province would have been more significant than five cents.
He cites market jitters created by the new variant of COVID-19 as the primary factor. He has picked up where the late George Murphy left off with gas price predictions.
Sometimes the predictions are posted to Twitter in addition to the website.
All Fuel Prices Down
The price of all fuels in the province is plummeting due to the omicron variant of COVID-19.
Gas is down by 5.1 cents per litre, while diesel is down by 4.5.
Furnace and stove oil are decreasing by about 4 cents (4.05 and 4.03), while propane is dropping by just under 3 cents (2.8).
