Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne joined in the fun this afternoon, as the Association for New Canadians held a special event for refugee children and their families who arrived in the province in the last year.
Byrne says the event was important, as most of the Afghan children present had lived in refugee camps in Turkey before coming to the province.
He says it was one of their first opportunities “to be kids again.”
Among the attractions available for children at the Power Plex on Crosbie Road was Christmas Mickey, who danced with the kids, and a bouncy castle, which proved irresistible to Gerry Byrne who climbed inside and joined with the children.
He admits “I probably had more fun than the kids did…I really enjoyed the bouncy castle.”
