A local dairy farm is embracing new technology in its milk production and it’s proven a hit with their cows.
Lester’s Dairy Farm in Mount Pearl introduced robotic farming to its operations last February. Nancy Lester says instead of scheduling the cows for milking twice a day, four robotic milkers are on the ready 24/7 allowing the cows to choose when they get milked.
Lester says the cows love it.
She admits it was a learning curve for her family and the cows, but the animals are now trained to come in and “get a treat” when their udders are full and the robot will milk them.
