The first children in the 5-11 age group to be immunized against COVID-19 are now eligible to receive their second shot.

A memo regarding the situation was circulated to schools earlier today at the request of public health.

They state that children who received their first dose on November 25, 26, and 27 are now eligible for a second dose.

In the St. John’s area, appointments can be booked for this Saturday at the Village Mall Yellow or the Mundy Pond location.

Children who were immunized after those dates are also now approaching the eight week eligibility criteria.

Parents of those children are encouraged to go online and book their child’s second dose for eight weeks after their first.
