The minister responsible for industry and energy is excited that Vale has signed a deal to supply nickel to electric vehicle maker Tesla.
While the news was being widely reported for weeks, Vale finally confirmed the agreement on Friday.
Minister Andrew Parsons says the deal will result in greater interest in the local mining industry.
Parsons says there is global demand for the raw material needed for electric vehicle batteries and Newfoundland and Labrador has the resources.
