A 78-year-old man from Mobile has died, and two others were sent to hospital following a head-on collision on the Southern Shore Highway near Middle Pond Tuesday.

At about 10:30 that morning, a vehicle travelling south collided with one which was northbound. A third, also travelling north, was damaged as well.

The 78-year-old driver of the vehicle travelling north was pronounced dead at the scene while his passenger, a 75-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The man who was driving the southbound vehicle was also sent to hospital but with minor injuries.
