Eleven communities are this year’s recipients of the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board’s Community Waste Diversion Fund.
Grants totalling almost $80,000 will support sustainable waste management in towns throughout the province.
The fund offers maximum individual grants of $10,000 to implement projects that will ultimately divert more waste away from landfills.
The towns on this year’s list are carrying out projects to address everything from textile waste, recycling and reuse initiatives, as well as targeting organic waste.
The successful applicants this time around include the towns of Fogo Island, Pilley’s Island, Georges Brook-Milton, Pouch Cove, Stephenville, St. Anthony, Carbonear, Summerford, Avondale, Lumsden and Charlottetown.
