The provincial government is hoping to bring in the eight cent cut in taxes on gas and diesel as soon as possible.
The province announced a number of measures yesterday to ease the pinch caused by fuel prices that have long surpassed the two dollar a litre mark.
The province is cutting the provincial tax on gas and diesel by half, amounting to just over eight cents a litre.
Premier Andrew Furey says they’re hoping to introduce the changes in the legislature on Monday and the tax relief could come as early as next week if all goes well.
