All outpatient appointments and services at the Waterford Hospital on Monday have been cancelled due to a fire on Saturday.

Eastern Health says patients and clients will be contacted to reschedule their appointments.

So far only appointments for Monday, May 30, are affected.

Scheduled telephone and virtual appointments will go ahead, and be offered to others where possible.

Visitor restrictions have also been put in place as a result of Saturday’s fire.

It happened at one of the inpatient units around 5 p.m.

There were no injuries.

Patients from the affected unit had to be moved to other areas of the hospital.

Officials are also asking people not to visit for the time being.
