The Tuckamore Centre in Paradise has been named among the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation grant recipients for 2022.

The Tuckamore Centre, run by Eastern Health, provides services to students with complex mental health issues with a wide range of backgrounds.

The Tuckamore Centre’s aim through the $5000 dollar received Literacy Fund Grant is to provide reading materials relevant to and reflective of the students who avail of their services.

English Language Arts teacher Maria, explained in Tuckamore’s submission video what the centre means to the young people they work with.

Young people come in from across the province to live in a residential treatment program to help them work through complex mental health concerns.

Books they hope to purchase will be reflective of things like Indigenous culture and the LBGTQ+ community.
