Police have confirmed that a body found in the ocean off Witless Bay on Tuesday is that of a missing Portugal Cove South man.
Sixty-eight-year-old Loyola Hartery was last seen leaving his home on an ATV just before 6 a.m. last Friday.
An extensive search over land and the surrounding coastline failed to find any sign of the man.
That was until Tuesday, when a body was spotted by the crew of a commercial vessel off nearby Witless Bay.
The RCMP is offering its condolences to Hartery’s family and friends.
