A demonstration is planned on the Argentia Access Road today, to bring attention to what local residents say is the neglect shown by government in addressing road maintenance.

Ray Murphy leads the Route 100 Road Improvement Committee and says they will be out on the roadside today to greet tourists and drivers arriving for the upcoming Nascar event with signs apologizing for the state of the road.

He says the local roads depot closed 22 years ago and since that time they’ve seen little maintenance or improvements on the major route. “Now we have the place in a mess, in shambles actually,” he laments.
