The leader of the NDP believes suspending Bruce Chaulk from his position was the prudent thing to do, but hopes the rest of the process will be handled quickly.
Chaulk was suspended yesterday from his position as Chief Electoral Officer and Commissioner for Legislative Standards, pending the outcome of an independent review of the Citizens’ representative.
Jim Dinn stresses that the review cannot be a lengthy process. He says this cannot be another three or four-month-long process. He says the results need to be in the hands of the House of Assembly so they can deal with it when the legislature reopens.
Opposition Leader David Brazil says he’s pleased to finally see some action on the matter.
He says the Citizen’s Rep’s report has lingered for months, while they pushed for action from the House of Assembly Management Commission. “I’m glad the premier took my advice,” says Brazil and moving to an independent review was the right move.
