People are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life during the annual VOCM Summer Blood Drive.
The Canadian Blood Services says donors dropped off dramatically during the pandemic, while hospitals are ramping up long-delayed procedures and surgeries.
A large number of appointments still need to be booked in order to meet the need, with dozens yet to be filled this weekend at Canadian Blood Services on Wicklow Street in St. John’s.
The annual VOCM Summer Blood Drive is taking place in St. John’s today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
