The Eating Disorder Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador turned to drive-in bingo as a successful form of fundraising during the pandemic, but even that is in jeopardy if they can’t get their numbers up.
Executive Director Paul Thomey says the number of diagnosed eating disorders rose dramatically during the pandemic and the Foundation helps to provide programs and supports for both patients and their families.
Thomey says it can take years and sometimes a lifetime to treat an eating disorder and every little bit of money raised goes a long way.
They’ll have to curtail their drive-in bingo at the Jack Byrne Arena by the end of the summer if they can’t get the attendance up.
Gates open at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with bingo starting at 7:15 p.m.
