Easter Seals has had its summer jobs funding reinstated, allowing them to put the funding they had set aside for an inclusive play space back in the kitty.
Easter Seals was left scrambling earlier this year when it found out that its summer grants funds were slashed by the federal government.
That forced the organization to divert some of the money raised for an inclusive playground to hire students as counselors for their summer camp program.
When the matter was raised Federal Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan’s response was “stay tuned.”
Easter Seals CEO Mark Bradbury says having the funding reinstated is a great relief.
Easter Seals is the largest provider of programs and services to the disabled community in Canada.
