A few tense moments early this afternoon after a young child on a floating device started to drift away into the open ocean at a popular beach in Conception Bay North.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre received the call around 2:00 p.m. that a young child on an floatie was drifting away from land at Northern Bay Sands.
The Coast Guard’s Conception Bay Inshore Rescue Boat Crew recovered the child who was in good condition and brought them back to a waiting ambulance as a precaution.
