The provincial government has issued an RFP for an independent review of the province’s apprenticeship program.
The department responsible for jobs and skills says the review is being conducted to ensure the best outcomes for the more than 3,000 apprentices who are trained in the province annually.
Difficulties remain for some apprentices in getting the job experience they need to get their certification.
There are currently 3,500 registered apprentices in the province with approximately 3,200 active agreements in place with local employers.
Proponents interested in responding to the Request for Proposals must be able to review the current program and gauge its effectiveness, sustainability, governance and accessibility among other things.
