A 28-year-old woman is facing impaired charges after striking a traffic light pole early Saturday morning.
Shortly before 4:00 a.m., police and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to an accident at the intersection of New Gower and Adelaide Street, where a vehicle had driven over the sidewalk and knocked over a pole supporting the traffic lights. Newfoundland Power was called to cut the power to the lights. No one was injured in the accident.
The driver was located at the scene and sent for the breathalyzer test. The 28-year-old woman blew three times the legal limit and faces impaired charges. She is set to appear in court at a later date.
