The lifting of isolation requirements for those infected with COVID-19 may be on the horizon.
That’s according to the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
Nova Scotia has lifted its isolation requirements for those who test positive for COVID-19, and Fitzgerald says Newfoundland and Labrador may be following suit after the province gets through a predicted spike in cases numbers and hospitalization due to the BA-5 sub-variant of Omicron.
While those requirements are under consideration, it will still be some time before any changes are made.
Fitzgerald says we have to move that way eventually, but at the moment it’s not the right decision. She says if we see a sustained decrease of hospitalizations, then it will be under consideration.
