Two local health care professionals who became household names in Newfoundland and Labrador are among eight people who will be invested into the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador this September.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, who led the province through the first major pandemic in a century, and Dr. Proton Rahman who provided the modeling to help guide public health policy will be invested into the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Catherine Donovan, who is involved in health promotion and chronic disease prevention is also being recognized, along with Robert Cormier for his work in preserving French language and culture, musician and songwriter Alan Doyle, Carla Furlong for her work preserving music and culture, Joe Goudie for preserving traditional culture and practices, and Max Short for his public service.
The investiture ceremony will take place at Government House on September 28.
