A local pitcher is making history at the Canada Summer Games.
Jaida Lee of St. John’s is the first female to compete in men’s baseball at the games.
Lee took to the mound against Alberta yesterday in relief, going three-up, three-down in her first inning of work. The ball was taken to go in the Canada Baseball Hall of Fame.
Lee says she’s glad she can be a source of inspiration for younger girls, but just sees herself as a baseball player. She says sometimes the “making history” side of things has been a lot, but describes it as “pretty cool.”
Lee was also the flagbearer for Team NL at the Canada Summer Games opening ceremony.
HISTORY. HAS. BEEN. MADE.
