Police took a number of vehicles off of the roads due to alcohol-related offences yesterday evening and overnight.
Shortly before 8 p.m. yesterday, police pulled a vehicle over on Kelsey Drive and found open alcohol in the vehicle. The 23-year-old driver was issued a warning on a screening device and was ticketed for the open beverage. His vehicle was impounded.
Two hours later, officers responded to an impaired driver on Topsail Road in the capital city. After pulling the vehicle over, the 45-year-old driver declined multiple times to provide a breath sample. He was charged and released, but his vehicle was seized.
Later, around 1 a.m., another driver was pulled over on Topsail Road, showing signs of impairment. The 43-year-old driver blew nearly two times the legal limit and also lost their vehicle.
Meanwhile, another incident ended with a 23-year-old in the lockup.
Around 1 a.m., police were called to George Street, where two people were reportedly passed out. Officers located both individuals safely, but found one of them to be wanted on a warrant for an unrelated matter. The man was charged with one count of failing to comply with a probation order. He was held to appear in court.
