Premier Andrew Furey expects to see the province benefit from revenue generated by proposed wind/hydrogen developments.
Furey was referencing the agreement signed yesterday in Stephenville between the Canadian and German governments to develop green energy like hydrogen through wind farms on the province’s southwest coast for export to Germany by 2025.
Germany is actively exploring alternatives to its reliance on Russian oil.
Furey says not only will the region benefit through job creation, but through the revenue generated.
He says it’s yet to be determined but the revenue can be generated either through a royalty regime or through taxation.
Furey says the historic agreement signed yesterday extends beyond wind to critical minerals and nickel.
