Police are investigating an attempted child abduction in Gander Bay.

Around 10:00 p.m. last night, a teenage girl was approached by a man driving a light grey van on Noggin Cove Road in Carmanville.

The driver spoke to the teen and demanded that she get into the vehicle. She declined, and the driver repeated himself two more times. The girl ran off to her house, where she reported the incident to her parents. Patrols were conducted, however, the vehicle was not located.

The man is described as older with a large build. He was wearing a ball cap and had a large brown beard. The vehicle is a freshly-painted light grey, noisy, older model van.

RCMP ask parents to speak to their children about what to do in a scenario like this.
