Construction at the Come By Chance refinery has been paused for a week following a flash fire last Friday that injured eight workers.
In a statement released Monday evening, Braya Renewable Fuels says construction at the facility has been paused until at least September 12th, while an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
They say the resumption of work will be reassessed by them and Occupational Health and Safety next week, and they are beginning a plan for a safe return to construction activities while the stop work order is in place.
Braya says two workers have now been released from hospital, with six still admitted.
CEO Frank Almaraz says their priority is supporting employees and their families as they recover and learn from the incident, noting that they have trauma counselling and support for anyone who needs it.
