The RNC says the public is coming forward with CCTV and dash cam footage as the investigation continues into two random attacks in the capital city Monday evening.
In the first instance, suspects forced their way into a Beaumont Street home, attacked the man and woman inside, and stole the homeowner’s car. The man was seriously injured and was taken to hospital with stab wounds.
Approximately 20 minutes later, an elderly couple, aged 88 and 90 were attacked inside their home in the area of Maunder’s Lane in the east end. They were both taken to hospital with injuries.
The stolen car was later found abandoned in a lot behind Coaker’s Meadow Plaza.
Images of the suspects were released yesterday, but RNC Constable James Cadigan says more images are pouring in and every possible police resource—including local municipal police—is being used to identify and arrest them.
Cadigan says such violent and random crimes are rare.
He says it results in the “destruction of our security” to a degree and leads people to question what they should do now.
People should lock their doors and not answer the door for anyone they don’t know or are not expecting. Cadigan says any and all suspicious activity should be reported to them.
