The province has named the recipients of this year’s Seniors of Distinction Awards.
Premier Andrew Furey and Seniors Minister John Abbott presented the awards in Deer Lake on Friday.

The seven winners are Barbara Ellis and Elizabeth Murphy of St. John’s, Rosie Lucy of Hopedale, Wayne Noel of St. Anthony, Eldon Swyer of Little Rapids, Bryson Webb of Port aux Basques, and George M. Doyle of St. Lawrence, who is receiving the award posthumously.
The awards recognize experts in their field and caring individuals that give to their community.
