The mayor of St. Vincent’s-St. Stephen’s-Peter’s River says storm surges are driving waves across the road at St. Vincent’s beach where the breakwater was recently washed away.
Route 90 at St. Vincent’s on the southern Avalon Peninsula is closing due to water and debris on the road.

Mayor Verna Hayward had a blunt message for people planning to travel through the area along Route 90.
She says the road is impassable and is urging everyone to stay away from the area, noting anyone driving the Irish Loop today will have to turn back due to the danger.
