The provincial government is setting up a health care recruitment desk in southwestern India, similar to that established in Poland to help Ukrainian refugees.
Premier Andrew Furey says a recruitment team, including those who speak the language, will head to India in the coming weeks.
Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne says the new desk in the Karnataka state of India is a focused effort to recruit from an area that has similar training practices as NL.

He says the team, including a representative of the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador, will establish a desk in Bengaluru (Bangalore). The College rep will help to oversee licensure in a “quick and efficient fashion.”
The announcement was made this morning at Southcott Hall in St. John’s with the Indian flag flying.
