Newfound Gold has opened its new core processing facility in Gander.

An open house was held at 300 Garrett Drive on Friday.

The company has an intensive drill campaign underway in an area of land known as Queensway along the Appleton fault, which has already resulted in some encouraging results according to COO Greg Matheson.

He says the drilling program, which has been underway since 2020, has found intersections of gold mineralization.

Gander Mayor Percy Farwell says it’s good news for the town.

He says the economic spinoffs have been great, and will only add to the economic boon if and when it becomes an operational mine.
