A Corner Brook man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a death in the west coast city on Tuesday night.

Forty-eight-year-old Blair Christopher Walsh is also charged with aggravated assault in connection with the incident.

Police responded to a disturbance on Wheeler’s Road around 8:15 p.m. and found a 59-year-old man with serious injuries resulting from some kind of “physical altercation.”

He was rushed to hospital but died a short time after arrival.

Walsh was arrested at the scene and remains in custody following a first court appearance today.

The body of the victim, whose name has not been released, was transferred to St. John’s where the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

The investigation continues and police are asking anyone with information or video footage from the Wheeler’s Road area of Corner Brook on Tuesday evening to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
