The weight limit on the Goose River Bridge in Happy Valley-Goose Bay has been reduced effective immediately following a recent inspection of the span.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure says design work has begun to strengthen the bridge in an effort to remove the weight restrictions.
A tender is expected to be issued this summer for upgrades to the bridge.
It’s the second bridge in the province that has seen major changes to traffic following inspection.

The maximum load limit on Goose River Bridge in Happy Valley-Goose Bay has been reduced from the vehicle’s legal limits to 22 tonnes (three-axle single unit truck), 32 tonnes (four-axle truck and trailer) and 38 tonnes (five-axle truck and trailer), effective immediately.
