Government says it is willing to discuss the possibility of exporting fish from Newfoundland and Labrador to other jurisdictions.
Hundreds of protesters gathered at Confederation Building on Monday with several messages for government including a request to open up the markets to harvesters. They say processors can import fish for processing in plants in Newfoundland and Labrador, but harvesters don’t have the right to sell outside the province.

The crab fishery was to begin April 10, but nobody is fishing because of low prices.
Premier Andrew Furey says he will speak with the FFAW about the possibility of exporting crab.
“I understand that that’s the position of some of their members, but perhaps not all their members,” says Premier Furey. He says it’s a conversation which he is willing to have.
