Some services provided by the federal government will grind to a crawl as more than 155,000 federal public servants have walked off the job.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada says it has not been able to reach a deal with the government by the deadline and has begun strike action. Union president Chris Aylward says there are still a number of issues to work out.
Services such as tax returns, immigration, border crossings, pension payments and passports are among those which will be affected.
Wage increases have been top of mind at the bargaining table. Union President Chris Aylward says they’re also pushing for work-from-home options to be written into a new collective agreement.
