A 39-year-old Nain woman is facing charges after police say the ATV she was driving struck a child on a bicycle.
The woman was arrested after the ATV, which police say was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the child on a residential street Sunday afternoon. The child was not physically injured.
The driver ran from the scene before police arrived.
The driver, who was prohibited from driving, was located and arrested a short time later. Police say she provided breath samples at the detachment that were three times the legal limit.
She’s facing charges of dangerous driving, impaired driving, driving while prohibited, failing to stop at the scene of a crash, and obstructing a peace officer.
