The RNC is issuing a warning after the email account of the Royal Canadian Legion on Blackmarsh Road was hacked.
Police are concerned because the email contact list includes seniors, veterans and other partner agencies that can be targeted by scams.
The RNC are advising the community of an e-mail disguise scam ongoing in the community.

RNC spokesman Const. James Cadigan says police were first notified of the situation this morning.
“We’ve learned the account has been compromised by a criminal network, who are now using it to disguise themselves as (The Legion), requesting people to provide them with funds either by money transfer or gift cards, by email,” he said.
“With that information, it’s clear that we have once again an attempt by a criminal network to take advantage of our community.”
Cadigan is urging anyone who receives such an email to contact the sender or group to confirm it’s authentic.
The scheme follows regular patterns, starting with a request for help followed by a demand for money through means that are usually hard to trace.
