A local theatre company is debuting a new play with hopes of making it accessible for all audiences.
Tamasha, O Tamasha is a new show from This Might Be Satire Productions, based on translated work from Indian theatre icon Gursharan Singh Bhaji.
The show has been reworked to reflect today’s political climate through the use of satire.
Writer and producer Azal Dosanjh says his take on the play allows people from any cultural background to relate to the show.
More importantly, he says, the show hopes to be accessible to everyone.
With rising costs in the theatre industry, they felt it was important to make their show as affordable as possible. Tickets for some shows will be free, while tickets for others will be sold using a “pay what you can” model.
Tamasha, O Tamasha opens at Memorial University’s DF Cook Hall on June 7.
