He couldn’t beat the defending champion, but Forteau, Labrador’s John Groves put in a respectable showing on Jeopardy! last night.

Groves was able to inform the host, Mayim Bialik, and the audience about the size and population of Labrador and his hometown of Forteau, and extolled its icebergs and polar bears.

Defending champion Ben Chan couldn’t be defeated, but Groves correctly answered the final Jeopardy question on Billboard #1 Hits with What is “We Didn’t Start the Fire”?, coming in second place with a final score of $4,601. He won $2,000 for his efforts.

Groves is believed to be the very first Labradorian ever to appear on the popular game show.
