It appears as though a cool, wet spring has had an impact on the number of online provincial campsite bookings made so far this year.
Bookings are down slightly from previous years.
The ParksNL campsite reservation service launched on April 26th. By May 16, approximately 7,200 reservations had been made, equating to 42,900 camper nights.
That compares to 7,700 reservations and 44,000 camper nights over the same period in 2022.
While seasonal campsites for the Victoria Day weekend filled up quickly, the department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation says there is still some limited availability.
The province confirms that camping reservations are strongly influenced by weather and the cold spring may account for the slight drop in reservations so far this season.
