The province’s Medical Resident Bursaries are seeing a return, as 42 medical residents have accepted the money in exchange for working in the province for three years.
This bursary is in addition to the 22 Memorial University students who recently accepted bursaries.
The group of 42 residents includes five family medicine residents who will practice in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and others who will be working in St, John’s, Carbonear, Clarenville. Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Twillingate, Springdale and Corner Brook.
More funding is allocated for those practicing in rural areas, topping out at $90,000 for residents who practice in areas having trouble filling positions.
