There have been no reports of loss of life, but wildfire raging through Nova Scotia have displaced some 16,000 people.
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston provided an update on the fires today.
He told Nova Scotians he’s seen the devastation.
“And it’s very scary” but Houston offered assurances to residents that every possible tool is being used to fight the fires.
Houston acknowledged the people who have lost their homes in the fires, and thanked the many people who are doing what they can to “get things back to normal.”
He admits the weather is not co-operating.
He offered his thanks to Premier Andrew Furey, and New Brunswick’s Premier Blain Higgs for their help in providing waterbombers to fight the fires.
Meanwhile, the water bombers sent by Newfoundland and Labrador are being put to use.
Scott Tingley with the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables says they are being deployed as necessary.
Both waterbombers are assisting in priority spots, including one of the most concerning fires, currently burning in Barrington.
