Cape Spear now has a new café to serve the many visitors to North America’s most easterly point.
The Cape Spear Café is located in the renovated visitor centre and is run by The Postmaster’s Bakery which also has a location on Bond Street in St John’s.
Co-owner Mark Murphy says they’re ready to serve visitors, opening at 6:00 each morning; even offering take away picnic baskets for those who want to enjoy a bite in the great outdoors.
Parks Canada’s Glen Keough says the café also incorporates the area’s unique history.
It includes information on the history of the Cantwell family who operated the lighthouse for over 150 years.
Cape Spear Cafe has officially opened at Cape Spear National Historic Site. The Cafe is run by The Postmaster’s Bakery & located in the visitor centre building near both lighthouses. They open @ 6am so sunrise chasers can enjoy a treat after watching the day begin! @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/ZIavVNjTVr
