Perchance Theatre is thanking dozens of volunteers who helped settle them into their new home.
The theatre company is now calling the former convent of the Sisters of Mercy in Conception Harbour home.
Not only has the company moved operations, but they also broke down the stage in Cupids and put it back up in their new location—an expensive endeavor.
Artistic Director Danielle Irvine says they put a call out to the community, using a fitting historical comparison.
In December of 1598, William Shakespeare owned the theatre where his plays would be performed, but not the land it was on, and found themselves having to move. It is said that the theatre was taken apart board by board and transported across the River Thames to be used in the building of the Globe Theatre.
Irvine was astonished by the support. She says they had around 40 volunteers from ten different communities from all around the region lend a hand.
Perchance Theatre is set to announce their lineup of shows for the summer season this week.
