A happy ending to the search for a man missing in the woods near Holyrood for two nights.

A 76-year-old man missing in the woods near Hawke Hill was located this morning by a privately employed helicopter and is reported in good health.

The man was safely removed from a wooded area this morning and was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

The man had been trouting with a companion on Monday when the two became separated in thick fog.

RCMP are thanking all those involved in the extensive search including Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue, Avalon North Wolverines, Rovers Search and Rescue, Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search and Rescue, officers with the Department of Fisheries Forestry and Agriculture and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
