A Bell Island man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the community three years ago.
Forty-year-old Dean Reid was found guilty in provincial court in St. John’s on Friday.
The offences occurred in the spring and summer of 2020 when the girl was 15 and had moved to Bell Island with her parents.
Reid was a friend of the family and befriended the girl, whose identity is protected by a publication ban.
He was found guilty of touching her for a sexual purpose on several occasions, including during rides on his quad.
Reid also sent the girl sexually explicit images of himself in bed.
The girl and her mother were in the courtroom Friday, later telling VOCM News they were satisfied with the verdicts.
Reid was convicted of sexual interference, sexual assault and child luring.
He remains free on conditions pending the sentencing phase in November.
