Four provincial athletes were in the midst of some 7,000 athletes from 170 countries who showed off their talents in 26 different disciplines at the Games from June 17 to July 25.

Michael Budden, Samantha Walsh, Melvin Hanhams and Daniel Moores each medaled in their respective events with Moores taking home four medals.
Bobby Gamba, Sport Coordinator with Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador, says the medal haul speaks well of the untapped athletic potential in Newfoundland and Labrador. It’s also important to note that all four athletes hail from outside the metro region.
