An event for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies celebrating the crossroads of queerness and spirituality is taking place next week.
The “Out in Faith Pride Service” first began in 2016 and aims to provide a safe space for members of the queer community to share their experience with faith and spirituality.
The event is open to people of any faith and will feature speakers and music. Supports such as ASL translation, ambulance services and therapy dogs will be on hand.
Liz Ohle says the event is one of celebration and support.
She says a lot of the time, organized religion is not an accepting place for queer people. The event aims to give voice to people who have navigated the intersection of their identity and their spirituality.
The event takes place Thursday, July 20 at the Lantern in St. John’s.
